The June/July OCMS Bulletin is now available! Here's a peek at what is inside.
Physician Burnout: MSMS spoke to Christine Sinsky, MD, FACP, an internist at Medical Associates Clinic & Health Plans in Iowa. Sinsky also serves on the American Medical Associations Advisory Panel on Physician Satisfaction. Sinsky says, "About seven years into practice, I'd decided that if I was going to stay in medical practice, I needed to organize the way I did my work differently. I really considered what it is patients wanted - as well as what I wanted - and found that there was a lot of overlap. I re-engineered work to make it more manageable and enjoyable."
Physician Spotlight: We talk to Sharon Geimer, MD about her mission trips to Kenya, mentorship through the PRISM program at OUWB School of Medicine, and work-life balance. "The chaos is worth trying to manage and balance your life and maintain goals. If you don't take care of you, you will have nothing left to give," Dr. Geimer said.
Detroit's Best Kept Secret: We talk to Millard Golusin, MD and Jeffrey Klein, MD about their involvement with the Detroit Medical Orchestra. "The orchestra's motto is 'Bringing Healing through Music'", Dr. Golusin explains, "We hear so much about physician burnout and this is a wonderful opportunity to escape the daily pressures of medical practice."
